• Ability to supervise across all shifts in a 24-hour production environment | |
• Supervise, coach and lead skilled labor positions | |
• Keep track of group attendance on a daily basis | |
• Assign production schedules to ensure that production plans are met | |
• Ensure employees have the proper training in their assigned areas and that they approach their work in compliance with current the programs, procedures, and policies | |
• Complete employee evaluations as required | |
• Assess when employee recognition is appropriate and/or when discipline is necessary | |
• Work with engineering & quality teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production problems | |
• Responsible for production consumable inventory and requisition for materials and goods | |
• Minimize waste and cost, through management of productivity, scrap and consumables | |
• Ensure conformance to quality standards | |
• Generate improvement ideas and participate in the implementation of changes in processes and use of equipment to increase efficiency, improve safety and quality, reduce costs, and improve employee morale | |
• Ensure adherence to Company policies, SWPs (Safe Work Procedures) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) | |
• Maintain Shop Floor cleanliness through good housekeeping practices and participate in the 6S program | |
• Responsible for safety on the line and for adhering to all safety rules and programs, and for attending all required safety training | |
• Other duties as assigned |
• Experience supervising, leading, coaching, team-building and training within a fast-paced and technically demanding manufacturing environment required | |
• Experience with machining, welding, assembly and/or industrial paint-line operation | |
• Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing principles | |
• Developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills | |
• Proven ability to achieve deadlines in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing and executing | |
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs - specifically Excel, Word and Outlook | |
• Post-secondary education in Industrial Relations or Supervision | |
• Ideally will possess a designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (Mechanical) |
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills | |
• Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to handle conflict effectively |
