Production Supervisor, Foundry - Night Shift

Position: Production Supervisor, Foundry - Night Shift

Reports to: Director of Foundry Operations

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensure products are manufactured throughout the plant during the assigned shift, ensuring employee safety and achieving quality, customer delivery, expense and continuous improvement targets at all times.

• Ensure a safe and productive work environment by educating and directing employees and ensuring compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
• Establish and enforce Company quality standards.
• Accomplish manufacturing targets for quality, customer service and expense by:
o Communicating job expectations;
o Planning, monitoring and appraising job results;
o Coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; and,
o Initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
• Maintain work flow by:
o Monitoring production processes;
o Observing control points and equipment;
o Monitoring people and resources;
o Implementing continuous improvement initiatives; and,
o Initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between work cells and departments.
• Execute production plans by:
o Communicating priorities;
o Monitoring progress; and,
o Resolving problems.
• Ensure operation of building and equipment by evaluating and monitoring facilities, equipment and processes, and communicating with employees and Maintenance department.
• Maintain positive relationships by following terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
• Conduct process and safety audits as assigned.
• Ensure employee performance by:
o Providing employees with informal feedback on a daily basis;
o Receiving regular feedback from employees and taking appropriate action; and,
o Resolving problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and communicating directly with employees in a timely manner.
o Communicating above three points with the department managers.
• Complete a Shift Report at the end of each shift and distribute to Director of Foundry Operations and others as directed.
• Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results- focused attitude.
• Support company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

• College diploma in engineering technology or similar is considered an asset, although not a requirement.
• Experience supervising within a manufacturing environment, ideally in a foundry.
• Hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement is an asset.

Skills and Attributes Required:

• Working knowledge of fundamentals of casting processes is strongly preferred.
• High level of mechanical aptitude required.
• Willing and able to work all shifts, especially evenings.
• Developed leadership skills, including demonstrated team-building, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to achieve deadlines in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing and executing.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to handle conflict effectively.
• Confidence, with the proven ability to build credibility and strong partnerships at all levels.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, various MRP, ERP or related systems.
