Within the review of Monarch`s Purchasing Department operations, are redefining our Supply Chain strategies; developing systems, processes and Measures of Performance that are consistent with our World Class Initiative. We are looking for an energetic change catalyst who can assist in our daily operations as well become a significant contributor to our current transformation.

Position Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for identifying and procuring goods and services that the organization requires. They identify external material needs of the organization, find services providers who can supply these goods, negotiate for prices and arrange for the purchase and delivery of the goods utilizing refined processes and skills gained through both formal education and direct experience in manufacturing operations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Enters and updates PO`s within our ERP system, ensuring data aligns with updates from vendors. Updates pricing within ERP system as required. Review ASN to ensure vendor commitments. Internal communication re: part shortages.
  • Ensures procurement activities, achieved established goals and assist all other functions in the organization in achieving their quality, schedule, inventory and cost goals.
  • Actively participates in improving procurement processes to reduce the total cost of acquisition, improve service levels, reduce and recover the cost-of-poor-quality.
  • Manages relationships with vendors to ensure quality standards and performance expectations are achieved, timely delivery of product and services at a competitive cost.
  • Liaise with SQA to resolve quality issues and material shortage resulting from quality defects.
  • Utilizes data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting tools to forecast supply and material needs.
  • Reviews and resolves invoice discrepancies.
  • Actively participates in various cross functional teams.
  • Conducts all activities and executes all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results- focused attitude.
  • Supports Company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Relevant purchasing experience within an organization in the manufacturing industry.
  • SCMA/APEX/ASQ education/training preferred, ideally possesses a CSQP or SCMP designation, or actively working towards either.
  • Post-secondary education within commerce, engineering, mechanical technology disciplines is desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices is considered a definite asset.
  • Detail oriented with highly developed organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to evaluate opportunities using quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and understanding.
  • Strong communication skills that support effective negotiating ability resulting in profitable relationships.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Reputation for remaining positive, productive and professional in challenging and stressful situations.
