Quality Technician

Job Description:

The Quality Technician, under the direction of the Director of Quality Operations, works in collaboration with all stakeholders within the organization to achieve and surpass the strategic and tactical quality objectives set by the organization, within a World Class Manufacturing environment

Job Responsibilities:

The role is comprised of the following functions within the organization:

Quality Assurance:

  • Participate in New Product Introduction phases, including the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), within the organization’s Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP)
  • Development & support of the implementation and maintenance of the automated cleanliness (microscope & associated software)
  • Development & support of the implementation and maintenance of the automated PPAP software
  • Perform 3D scanning of product, using the latest mobile scanning technology.
  • Perform 3D scans and CAD overlays, to identify and report on dimensional and product feature deltas
  • Perform Reverse Engineering functions, using 3D scanning and Fusion 360
  • Complete and submit Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR)
  • Perform receiving inspections of incoming material and product from Monarch Industries’ strategic vendor base
  • Perform gravimetric and oil cleanliness testing, according to the organization’s procedures and industry standards
  • Willingness to achieve the Certified Welding Inspector (CWB) designation
  • Supporting role within the organization’s ISO 9001/14001 certification and associated third party audit activities

Product Integrity:

  • Work in collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Product Management, and all stakeholders to respond to, investigate and report on product performance issues as identified by our client base
  • Take an active, leading role in problem solving initiatives across all departments and product lines to permanent resolution, using effective industry recognized RCA and CAPA methodology
  • Prioritize and coordinate tasks related to Product Integrity issues and their resolution, when called upon to support

Purchasing / Supplier Quality Assurance:

  • Support the organization’s global procurement strategy by providing expertise to the purchasing and supplier quality assurance functions
  • Support Supplier Quality Assurance through administrative or hands-on activities, as determined by the Supplier Quality Assurance Manager
Job Requirements:

Education Required:

  • Ideal candidate will possess an industry recognized certification, such as Mechanical Engineering Technologist (MET) or a recent Engineering graduate, working toward a recognized certification.  Will consider candidates who possess a significant working knowledge in the field of a Quality Technician, in lieu of official certification
  • CWB certified Inspector or willing to challenge certification within 180 days of start date

Experience Required:                                                    

  • Minimum one year of relevant manufacturing experience in a technical role
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn fluid power or in the design and production of hydraulic cylinders
  • Specific knowledge of hydraulic cylinders and fluid power considered an asset
  • Certification in Non-Destructive test methods by the Canadian Standards Board (CSB) in Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), or Ultrasound considered an asset
  • Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and / or Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence (CMQOE) considered a strong asset
  • Certification in World Class Manufacturing or Lean Manufacturing from a recognized industry provider, such as CME or SME considered an asset
